Direct mail isn't dead. The version without attribution should be.
Direct mail has been "making a comeback" for the last five years.
But here's the truth: most direct mail campaigns still can't prove they worked.
Brands send 25,000 postcards. Sales go up. Everyone credits the mailer.
But there's no real recipient-level attribution behind it.
Discount codes only track redemptions, not exposure. Matchback models estimate lift. They don't measure it.
In most campaigns, there's still no way to know:
- which household engaged
- which recipient scanned
- which customer converted
- or who ignored the mail entirely
It's one of the only major marketing channels still operating on assumptions.
We built SnapCapture at BirdseyePost to fix this.
Every postcard gets a unique QR code tied to the recipient. Every scan is tracked. Every conversion ties back to the campaign that drove it.
Direct mail isn't dead. The version without attribution should be.
If you're running mail campaigns today and can't tell me exactly which recipients converted, you're not measuring performance. You're guessing.
And marketing channels built on guessing eventually get cut.
